Welcome to our tiny farm

Welcome to our tiny farm

The transition from winter to summer plantings is here!

My peas are coming into full harvest, we’re eating our luscious rainbow chard regularly and our carrots (probably planted a touch too late) are hopefully not too far off being plucked and plated.

Something has possessed me to want to grow everything from seed this year. I’ve grown tomatoes and garlic from seed for a good few years now, with varying success. But this year things seem to be working.

A couple of months ago we dusted off our small outdoor greenhouse and repositioned it (twice!) to maximise sunshine.

We’ve a few different variety of tomato, capsicums, eggplants, chillies, basil, spring onions, sunflowers, beetroot, zucchini and cucumbers.

This year I’ve also been working hard to succession plant for maximum yield. To help me grow leafy greeds when I’m short on space (because every square inch is full of tomato plants!) I’ve bought a vegepod that I’ve squashed down the sunny side of our house.

Pak choi and cos lettuce seedlings transplanted to the vegepod. Grow little beauties, grow!
